Girls soccer: Lady Cards get big district win
The George Rogers Clark girls soccer team came away  with a 5-1 victory over Bourbon¿County in their district opener Wednesday night at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.
“It was good to get the first district game under our belt,” Clark coach Jessica Laswell said. “We played pretty well, but we are still inconsistent. We moved and passed well against Grant County, went backwards against Harrison and then looked good again last night. We’re going to have to find a way to play our game every time we come out if we want to be successful.”
Clark (4-7) scored three goals in the opening half and raced out to a 3-1 at the break.
Clark’s Courtney White, who led the Lady Cardinals with two goals, scored the hosts’ first goal at 11:51 on an assist from Hayley Thornberry.
Chelsea Scobee followed with a score at 27:57 and Catie Curren connected on a goal at the 35:37 mark.
Bourbon County’s Reagan Johnson scored as time expired at the half.
White began Clark’s scoring in the first half with a goal at 58:16 on an assist from teammate Ramsey Hatchett.
Felicia Pasley concluded Clark’s scoring at the 61:26 mark of the contest.
Clark took 19 shots on goal and limited the Lady Colonels to three shots.
Cathryn Banker collected two saves.
