Little League Roundup: June 6, 2011
Tyler Howard threw a no-hitter to lead the Orioles to a 10-0 shutout over the A’s in four innings Saturday at Lykins Park.
Howard finished with 11 strikeouts and added a home run and a double at the plate. Jordan Howard paced the team’s offense with three hits, including a triple, followed by Chandler English, Isiah Williams and Blake Pedigo with two hits apiece.
Ben Barrett started for the A’s and collected a pair of strikeouts.
In another Major League game Saturday, the Dodgers scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-4 win over the Mets.
Shain Claypool had a pair of singles and a double, while Caleb May and David Crowe each had a two-bagger for the Dodgers. May went the distance and fanned five batters.
Houston Goodman connected on a double and a triple and pitcher Noah Garland collected eight strikeouts in the final four innings for the Mets.
The White Sox rallied and scored two runs in the fifth inning for an exciting 4-2 victory over the Red Sox.
Daniel Guerrant had an inside-the-park homer and a single, while Brady Doan laced three hits, highlighted by a pair of triples for the White Sox. Nino Clark pitched and struck out four batters.
Blake Hardeman laced three singles and Brent Conner added a pair of hits and Austin Short whiffed six batters for the Red Sox.

9-10 division

The Orioles broke open a close game with eight runs in the third inning and went on to defeat the Yankees, 15-2 in four innings.
Chaise English had three singles, followed by Chase Elliott and Tanner Summers with two hits apiece to lead the Orioles. Starter Blain Keathley collected eight strikeouts.
Isiah Noland had a homer and a single, while Jason Polley struck out four for the Yankees.
In another game, the Diamondbacks crossed the plate five times in their last at-bat in a 13-4 win over the Dodgers.
Stephen Rice and Brady Turner paced the Diamondbacks with two hits each, while pitchers Dylan Ware and Caden Easterling combined for 12 strikeouts and limited the Dodgers to just four hits.
Justin Overpeck had a double and whiffed four batters.
Also Saturday, the A’s scored three times in the third inning and doubled up the score on the Angels, 4-2.
Josh Abrams laced a double and pitcher Ethan Huff had eight strikeouts for the A’s.
