Prep Roundup: Cardinals post shutout over Bourbon County

It’s been a good week for the George Rogers Clark boys soccer team.
The Cardinals (5-6-1) captured their third consecutive victory and coasted to a 4-0 shutout of Bourbon County Thursday night at the Cardinal Soccer Complex. Clark has outscored its opponents 14-0 in the past three games, all of which were shutouts. The Cards began the week with a 9-0 victory over Fleming County, followed by a 1-0 triumph over Harrison County.
Andrew Walker, Josh Embry, Ryan McKinney and Jansen Browning each had a goal for the hosts.
Walker started the scoring at 31:00, followed by Embry’s score at 32:00.
McKinney connected for Clark at 63:00, while Browning rounded out the scoring at 78:00.
Embry had a pair of assists, while Irvin Juarez and Embry added two each. Embry and Browning each had two shots on goal, while Wilson Martin also had an attempt at scoring. Clark goal keeper Conner Blankenship scooped up three saves for Clark.
In the junior varsity game, Kaleb Keanaainia had the lone goal at 26:30 in a 1-0 win over the Colonels.
Luis Villa and Mason Hatton each had a shot on goal, while Hatton had the assist on Keanaainia’s score in the first half.
Clark goal keeper Dustin Summers had nine saves for the hosts.

Volleyball: Lady Cards roll past Bourbon

The George Rogers Clark girls soccer team swept Bourbon County in a district match Thursday at Paris.
Clark won 25-17, 25-5 and 25-19 to win the best three out of five games.
“Our serving and passing was on tonight,” Clark coach Robyn Curry said.
 “We gave Bourbon fits with our serving and they couldn’t get the ball to their setter to set up a spike.”
Curry liked the performances by Sandra Skinner and Seri Crawford.
“Sandra did a great job of blocking tonight and she just keeps getting stronger every game,” the Clark coach said. “Seri¿Crawford had a great junior varsity and varsity game tonight. Her passing was on with no errors in both games.”
The Lady Cardinals improved to 14-7 on the season.

Soccer: Larry Raney JV¿Tournament set

The annual Larry Raney junior varsity soccer tournament will begin Monday at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.
Clark and Madison Central and Paris will have two teams because Western Hills backed out of the three-day event.
Schedule is as follows:
Monday: 6:15 p.m., Madison Central (light) vs. Clark Red. 8 p.m., Clark White vs. Paris (dark).
Wednesday: 6:15 p.m., Paris (light) vs. Madison Central (dark). 8 p.m., Clark Red vs. Clark White.
Friday: 6:15 p.m., Clark Red vs. Paris (dark). 8 p.m., Clark White vs. Madison Central (dark).
