Prep Roundup: Lady Yellow Jackets sting Clark
The George Rogers Clark girls soccer team dropped a 3-0 setback to Woodford County Monday night in Versailles.
The Lady Yellowjackets (9-4-3) got two goals from Lindsey Sizemore in the first half to set the tone. Sizemore scored a goal at 13:45 and added another score at 18:58.
Woodford connected on another goal at 66:55 for the final margin.
Brooke Abner attempted Clark’s lone shot on goal at 76:12, while Lady Cards goal keeper Cathryn Banker collected four saves.
Clark fell to 6-10 on the season with the loss. The Lady Cards defeated Boone County 4-2 in their previous outing Saturday at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.
In the junior varsity game, Brittany McClure had eight saves in Clark’s 1-0 loss to Woodford County.

Girls 39th District Tourney set

The girls 39th District Soccer Tournament will begin Monday at Stonerside Field in Paris.
Clark, the top seed, will take on No. 4 seed Paris at 6 p.m., followed by second-seeded Montgomery County and No. 3 seed Bourbon County in the nightcap at 7:45.
The finals are set for 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, with the Clark-Paris winner taking on the winner of the Montgomery County-Bourbon County contest. The winner and runner-up will advance to the regional tournament.

Volleyball: Dig pink rally tonight

The Lady Cards will host Estill¿County in their annual dig pink rally at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Norton Gymnasium. The rally is a benefit to raise money to fight breast cancer. A raffle is planned, along with guest speakers.
The team will honor its seniors prior to Wednesday night’s  contest against Fleming County at Norton Gymnasium.
