Prep Roundup: Scott County shuts out Lady Cardinals

The George Rogers Clark girls soccer team suffered a letdown following a dramatic win over Montgomery County earlier this week.
The Lady¿Cardinals, who defeated the Lady Indians 3-2 on penalty kicks Monday night in Mount Sterling, returned to the field Wednesday night and dropped a 10-0 loss to Scott County in Georgetown.
Taylor Borman and Brittany Cline had three goals each to pace the hosts.
Clark goal keeper Cathryn Banker collected 14 saves to pace the Lady Cardinals.

"We missed a few opportunities early and it just went downhill from there," Clark coach Jessica Laswell said. "Our goalie, Cathryn Banker really did have an awesome game."

The squad’s junior varsity team suffered a 3-0 loss to Scott County. Brittany McClure recorded eight saves.
Clark will honor its seniors prior to Saturday’s contest against Boone County set for 6:30 p.m. at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.

Weather cancels Red-White contest

The George Rogers Clark Red and White junior varsity soccer teams played to a scoreless tie Wednesday in the Larry Raney Memorial Tournament before weather canceled the remainder of the contest.
In the opener, Madison¿Central defeated Paris 4-2.
The tournament resumes Friday with GRC¿Red taking on Paris at 6:15 p.m., followed by GRC¿White and Madison¿Central in the nightcap at 8 p.m.
Clark’s varsity team is at Madison¿Central tonight in a contest set to begin at 7 in Richmond.
