The George Rogers Clark boys soccer team captured its second victory of the season with a 6-0 shutout of Paris Wednesday night at the Cardinal Soccer Complex.
The Cardinals had lost four of their previous five games and improved to 2-4-1 on the season, while Paris slipped to 5-3-1.
“It’s a step forward,” Clark coach Ian Collins said. “We have to get better every day.”
Irvin Juarez had two goals on five attempts. He scored his first goal at 14:00 and added another score at the 53-minute mark of the second half.
Andrew Walker added a goal at 30:00 and added two assists. He was successful in his only scoring attempt.
Josh Embry added a goal at 32:00 and had two shots for the Cards, while Logan Blankenship (25:00) and Ryan McKinney (68:00) each had a goal for Clark.
Embry had two total shots on goal, while Blankenship and McKinney added one each. Frankie Kao, Kyle McCoy and Mark Wolf each had one shot on goal.
Christian Colvard had an assist and Wilson Martin had two attempts on goal. Clark goal keeper Chandler Gaunce collected one save.
The junior varsity team will compete in a tournament Friday-Sunday at Madison Central.

Girls soccer
The girls’ soccer game at Paris was rained out Wednesday night and has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 in Paris.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to return to the field at 7 p.m. Saturday at Dixie Heights.
