The George Rogers Clark girls volleyball team continued its winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Mason County Thursday night at Norton Gymnasium.
The Lady Cardinals notched their eighth straight victory by defeating the Lady Royals 25-12 in the first game, followed by a 25-11 victory in the second game to complete the sweep.
“We played very well again tonight,” Clark coach Robyn Curry said. “Fatigue wasn’t a factor.¿We were strong at serving and hitting all the way around. When you have an inexperienced team, it is great to see them get better every match and that is what we have done this week.”
Carrie Irvin paced the team with 13 good sets, 11 assists and a pair of kills.
“Carrie played a strong game for us tonight,” Curry said. “She is such a smart setter and sees the floor so well.”
Curry also was pleased with the performances of Maddie Hamlin and Joanna Guerrant.
“Maddie had a great hitting game for us,” Curry said. “I was proud of Joanna, who stepped up and had three kills for us. We must grab a short nap and get ready to play in the Woodford County tournament (this weekend).”
Clark improved its record to 10-3 on the season.
Stats:
Kills — Irvin 2, Hamlin 3, Curry 3, Skinner 5, Guerrant 3. Digs — Amy Kao 9 good, 3 errors, Irvin 4 good, no errors.¿Set assists — Irvin 13. Aces: Kyndal Curry 7.
