Red River captured the 10-11-year-old division of the Little League Girls Softball State Tournament Monday night with a 13-0 victory over North Oldham.
The Powell County-based team beat North Oldham 26-16 to tie the series at 1-1 in the completion of a suspended game Monday. Red River then took the title with a shut out in four innings.
In the decisive game, Red River put the game away with 12 runs in the third inning and took advantage of five walks in the breakthrough frame. North Oldham won the first game between the two teams 19-9 on Saturday afternoon.
In the final game, Emily Branham connected on a triple to lead Red River. Bailey Richardson laced a double for North Oldham.
Also in games played Monday. Washington County rallied for a 15-13 victory over Russell-Flatwoods and North Laurel defeated Phelps, 11-0 in the 11-12 division.
In the 9-10 division, North Oldham scored five times in the fifth inning and posted an 11-3 victory over North Laurel.
The tournament resumes today at Lykins Park.¿Winchester is scheduled to take on Phelps at 5 p.m.
