The Little League State Softball Tournament began over the weekend, with Winchester dropping its first two games in the 11-12-year-old division.
In the team’s opener on Saturday, the tournament hosts dropped a 13-3 loss to North Laurel in five innings.
Winchester scored all of its runs in the fourth inning, while North Laurel broke open a close game with a four-run outburst in the fourth inning.
Emily Golden laced a double, while Alyssa Jones, Sydney Elkins, Natalie Keeton and Courtney Miles each had a single for Winchester.
Alexis Gibson had three singles, while Madison McDaniel had a pair of doubles and a triple to lead North Laurel.
In a game played on Sunday, Winchester suffered an 11-4 setback to Louisville Valley Sports.
Winchester managed just five hits off Valley Sports pitcher Jenna Watkins. Lanee Crowe and Alyssa Jones each had a double, while Taylor Curtis, Elkins and Miles each connected on a single. Watkins finished with seven strikeouts.
Elkins fanned three batters.
Olivia Dobson had a pair of singles and a double to pace Louisville Valley, which collected 11 hits in the contest.
The tournament continues today at Lykins Park.
